“Absorbed” describes a state of being deeply engaged or fully focused on something, often to the point of not noticing what happens around you. A person can be absorbed in a book, a task, a conversation, or even in their own thoughts. It implies strong mental involvement and intense interest, where attention is almost completely taken up by one activity or subject. In scientific or technical contexts, “absorbed” can also refer to something being taken in, such as light absorbed by a surface or a liquid absorbed by a material. In everyday language, however, it most commonly expresses deep concentration or immersion.
