Genesis is the first book of the Bible and serves as an introduction to the central themes of the Judeo‑Christian tradition. It describes the creation of the world, the origins of humanity, and the early history of God’s relationship with people. Key narratives include the creation of heaven and earth, Adam and Eve, the Fall, the Flood and Noah, the Tower of Babel, and the lives of the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. Beyond its religious significance, the term “genesis” in general English also means the origin, beginning, or formative stage of something, such as a project, idea, or movement.
